P.E. Days - 2023-2024
5L - Wednesday and Thursday
5SH - Wednesday and Thursday
5W - Wednesday and Thursday
Journey through space, the final frontier... Navigate beyond the Sun, the magnificent, blazing star at the centre of our solar system!
Investigate the eight planets - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Take a look at the Moon, a celestial body that orbits Earth.
Exploring space is probably the greatest adventure that humankind has ever undertaken. Are we alone or are there other life forms out there?
PGL residential
The (as the children call it) 'Parent's Get Lost' residential! This outdoor and adventure activities three day trip is one of the most loved by all pupils (and teachers) at LWJ.
Scaling heights (and flying back down them), problem solving, archery, raft-building and much, much more... the children really get a sense of independence and a great time with their friends.
Travel back in time to the 1500s and meet the terrifying Tudors, a domineering dynasty that changed our history. Discover an oppulent court where dancing and singing goes hand in hand with swift falls from favour - and even swifter falling of heads!
Flex your muscles and become a criminal investigator. Will you find out the facts or will the evidence from the past bemuse you?
Brazil and South America is the focus of this topic! We will creat a carnival atmosphere as we dance through the geography and influence of South American culture.
We would love every child to become immersed in books and become avid readers! Regular reading at home and at school will build confidence and hopefully develop a passion for this wonderful lifeskill!
With this in mind, we expect the children to record at least 3 reads in their home school diaries every week and that a parent or carer initials that page weekly. Sharing books with an adult is so valuable and really helps to develop comprehension and higher-order reading skills.
We ask the children to ensure their home school diaries and reading book are brought to school daily so we can communicate with parents/carers easily and promptly.
Homework will follow a fortnightly timetable of maths one week and then English the following week. The children will write their homework in their home school diaries. This will be set on a Tuesday and expected to be completed by the following Monday.
The children will have a weekly list of spellings that will be in their diaries. We will work on those spelling rules at school throughout the week. They will also be on Spelling Shed.
Spelling Shed is a fantastic way to practise those tricky words! Compete online and try and beat your best score! Login details are in home school diaries.

In addition to set homework in maths, we highly recommend battling your friends at TT-Rockstars and improving your times table knowledge. These login details are also in home school diaries.
Carousel
Carousel now takes place on a Tuesday. The children will learn Spanish, Drama and Music in these sessions with specialist teachers for half a day.
