The school is proud of its strong, musical tradition – as part of the curriculum, delivered by our specialist music teachers.
All Year 3 and Year 4 pupils are taught how to play the guitar through a regular weekly lesson and many children elect to take additional instrumental tuition. Lessons are available for: strings, woodwind, brass, cello, guitar, keyboard, percussion and voice, through the county’s peripatetic Music Support Service (details available at the School Office) or private tutors. There is the opportunity to join the school orchestra or its choir. Year 5 and Year 6 are taught the rest of the music curriculum by Mr O'Leary.
Our annual whole school Carol Service in Southwell Minster and regular concerts/musicals are much enjoyed. Pupils in Year 6 have the opportunity to perform a musical in the summer term hosted by the Minster School.
Mr Buckley is our Music Subject Leader.
